ARTISTS: HELP SUPPORT GLOBAL MEDIC
Posted under |
As a result of 25 years of conflict, Iraq is considered to be have one of the highest contaminations of landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the world. The advent of 2003 brought renewed conflict and an exasperation of landmine contamination, including cluster bombs. While landmines severely stifle many forms of humanitarian and economic development and rehabilitation, they of course also greatly increase civilian casualties. GlobalMedic was asked to send a team to Kurdistan in Northern Iraq to train those who risk their lives every day to protect others. In partnership with MAG (Mines Advisory Group) Iraq , GlobalMedic's Rob Selfridge and Bill McCracken are currently training MAG landmine clearance medics on emergency trauma treatment ranging from blast injuries to poisonous snake bites. These two Global Medics are in the field right now. This is just one of the current missions that need our support. Motive is calling for Artists to step forward and donate their work to the upcoming Gala on the May 2nd, 2008. Time is of the essence.
