MotiveArt Fragments Competition
Posted under Art, |
The Motive-Art Fragments Competition has received hundreds of wonderful entries from students in the UK, many of which will be featured on the Motive site throughout this year.
Ms. Michelle Miller from the Art Department at Soar Valley College, in Leicester, UK, submitted the entry above but the artist's name was not included. This is only one of the many drawings, paintings and designs that have been received, and will be shown here on the Motive site. We will also feature some of the creative writing stories and poems that have been sent to us.
Congratulations go out to all the participants, thank you for your wonderful submissions.
The winners will be chosen later in the month and the winners will be announced on the 31st of January 2008.
Thank you all for your very creative work and please watch this area for further examples of some of the entries.
This is a work is by Demi Leigh Morrison, Age: 15 entitled: In The Fields They Lay. An explanation of the work follows the poem.
In The Fields They Lay
Along the graceless fields of grass,
They rake the rows of flesh and blood,
Like leaves, unlike the English class
Sandwiched. In the puddles of mud
Lay Bodies.
Mines may lay in the still blades.
The tall trees like they once stood;
While the summer breeze fades,
To be knocked down all in a flood.
Lay the Dead.
The sacrificed innocents don't know what hung
From the cascading efforts of fate.
Nothing would have helped them run.
They will never understand the hate.
Lay the Innocent!
Written by Demi Morrison
Explaination by the author:
I chose to do this poem in 3 stanzas, each being to represent a specific topic. The 1st stanza is about the dead.
The 2nd stanza is about the fragments of cluster bombs killing people.
The 3rd stanza is about the innocent people of the population who die.
I used a refrain at the end of each stanza to emphasise the amount of people who have died due to unnecessary faults.
